How to Cite Archived Contributors in APA

Rules on Citing Archived Contributors

In MLA, include the contributor of the document, the document name or description, the date published if known, the name of the collection that it is part of if any, and the location where it can be found.

Example:

Smith, John. Letter to Jane Doe. 1889. Print. The John Smith Papers. Northwestern University Library, Evanston, IL.

Note: If an official title, then put in parenthesis.

In APA, include the contributor of the document, the date created if known, the document name or description, a description of the type of document in brackets if necessary, the name of the collection and any specific identifying numbers in parenthesis, and the location of the document.

Example:

 

Smith, John. Interview by J. Doe [Tape recording]. The John Smith Interview Seris (Box 12). Northwestern University Archives, Evanston, IL.

Note: If an official title, then put in parenthesis.
